Childish things

Well, my middle-aged horseriding career has come to a screeching halt. I was riding Buddy in the paddock yesterday, when the next thing I knew, I was in the ER. Two fractured ribs and a concussion have taught me that 50 year olds don't bounce when they land. And he was doing so well, too.
The radiologist commented that I have the brain (on CT, I imagine) of a 20 year old, but a neck of a 50 year old.
I'm okay, but Scott was petrified and has quite appropriately read me the riot act.
So, those sweethearts will have to go to greener pastures sometime.

  1. Is it feasible to keep them buy pay somebody to break them? (I don't know if "break" is the used term or not.) I know you love them.

I'm glad you're (mostly) in one piece. Are you home?

  3. I'm home eating goji berries and vicodin. I honestly don't know how I ended up on the ground, but my bet is that I wasn't bucked...just fell. I do love those horses, but I don't think that I could keep them on as pets. And I won't get on again. It's too risky. Next time, it could be my spleen...or neck.

  4. Laura, Laura, Laura.
Whatever are we going to do with you?
    Many questions....
Who got you to the hospital?
Where were you when he/she found you?
Why don't you answer your telephone?
Darling Girl, I'm so thankful you weren't hurt more than broken ribs.
Love you with a heart and a half.

  7. ((((((((((((((Laura))))))))))))))))))))

In the words of Frank Barrone, "Holy crap."

You've got to stop giving me scares like this, girl. It's not good for my health. ;)

After what you've been through already with the necrotizing fasciitis, reading about your fall brought a wave of tears followed by major relief that you didn't end up in a wheelchair from this...

Let's just assume you don't have 9 lives, okay?

Sending my best karma for your healing and for Scott's upcoming BW.

    Hugs to both of you,

    Connie :)
